From the archives of Oral Roberts – First of two parts
A young man in Texas, the son of a well-known pastor, went by the name of Buzz. He grew up, married, had a family, and became an oil man. Buzz grew very wealthy and became a Partner of our ministry, as well as a tither in his own church.
Suddenly, terrible things began to happen. He had a bad automobile accident and was in the hospital for months. When he was dismissed from the hospital, his limbs just couldn’t function. Buzz couldn’t walk normally or use his arms normally. He lost his wife. He lost his family. He lost all of his money.
One day his father called and said, “Oral, I’ve got to have your help. We have got to have a miracle.”
I said, “Miracles have been passing your way all this time.”
“Oh, I know, Oral,” he said. “But I’ve got to have one for my son. I’m asking you to get in contact with him because you’re the only man in the world he believes can help him out of this.”
I called the young man on the telephone and asked, “Buzz, do you have a Bible near you?”
“Yeah,” he answered.
“Turn to Matthew 18:19˗20 and read it to me,” I instructed.
In that weak voice of a person who isn’t well and didn’t have his strength back, he read, Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.
I said, “Read that again.” After he had read the passage again, I asked, “Buzz, are you on earth?”
“Yeah,” he answered.
It says, “as touching any thing that they shall ask”, I reminded him. Then I said, “What are you asking?”
“I want to be healed!” he declared. He read on, “It shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” Then he added, “It says here that the Father will do it for me. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
I instructed him, “You are there and I am here; there is no distance in prayer. God is there, and God is here. He is in you and He is in me. Let’s agree, you and I, in His name, you are going to be healed, and that your miracle will not pass you by!”
